Thanks to a major gift from Dr. William Lofty, the Belpre Area Community Development Foundation established an annual grant cycle. Grant applications are submitted and reviewed by a grant committee. With Board approval, grants awarded are made public. The annual grant schedule will be published annually by June 1st and monies dispersed after October 1st.

Eligibility – Read Carefully
The Belpre Area Community Development Foundation (BACDF) encourages
project/initiative proposals for initiatives that align with the following guidelines:

  • Enhance our community in ways that impact a significant number of people
  • Address high priority local needs for community development
  • Benefit a significant part of the community through existing or new initiatives that
    are not duplicative
  • Link community initiatives across organizations
  • Enhance the skills of people in our community
  • Promote excellence in the arts and other forms of creative endeavors

Additional Important Information Related to Grant Application:
The applicant will include a list of any other grant proposals it has submitted or has been
awarded by other organizations in connection with its proposed project/initiative.

  1. Applicant will include proof of authorization by the membership of the organization
    involved with this grant application
  2. Preference will be given to 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations, governmental subdivisions
    and public education institutions; grant requests from individuals cannot be accepted
  3. Application will include evidence of its status with the IRS as a 501(c)(3) organization,
    such as a copy of its IRS determination letter.
  4. The organization must be located inside the BACDF service area, which includes Belpre
    city, and the townships of Barlow, Belpre, Decatur, Dunham, Fairfield, Palmer, Wesley,
    and Warren.
  5. Financial information will include (see application for additional requirements):
    a) Budget for the proposed project/initiative/initiative
    b) Fundraising strategy, including a description of other sources of financial support for the proposed project/initiative and amount of money to be raised by your organization
    c) Timeline required for fund distribution
  6. Other required information (to be attached to application):
    a) List of officers, board members and titles, contact information
    b) Most recent annual financial report (preferably audited)
    c) Current annual organization operating budget, showing income and expense
    d) Evidence of the organization’s 501(c)(3) status such as its determination letter
  7. Generally grants are not made for:
    a) Routine operating expenses for ongoing programs;
    b) Annual campaigns;
    c) Endowments;
    d) Sectarian religious purposes;
    e) Political purposes
    f) Lobbying activities;
    g) Existing obligations
    h) Debts or liabilities;
    i) Travel/participation in meetings, conferences, seminars, study exchange programs;
    j) Individual initiatives
  8. Application forms must be used. Applications will be one-sided, typewritten and legible.
    a) Submit, by March 31, 2008, the signed original application and 3 copies of the application with required attachments to:

  9. Should a grant be awarded, the applicant will be notified and a signed agreement
    must be returned by the date requested to BACDF before a public announcement
    is made. The recipient organization will not make any type of announcement related to
    its award before BACDF has made its public announcement.
